Stupid Move after Submitting App to App Store

I've been working with Smug on this but I figured I'd let everyone in on the "fun." I submitted an app to the store yesterday. Getting ahead of myself I see in the config.txt file in Xcode that it was submitted in Design mode. Anyway, I made change in the BT control panel to see how it would look, and then figured that was a mistake while the app was in the "waiting to evaluate" phase. So I undid the changes. 1) My worry is, is this going to screw up the review process? 2) If it is a problem, can I just go delete the app from the store review, go to Xcode and change the mode to Live, Archive and resubmit, or do I have to do anything else (recompile?, whatever). 3) Smug suggested I go to the configuration data and copy Live Mode Data but when i go there I get a message {"status":"live version of config file does not exist?"}. Can anyone answer any or all of these concerns? Thanks. Steve

Hi Steve, (1) If you leave it as is, with the config file in Design mode, then when the reviewer opens up the app, they'll first be prompted for an update. We try to avoid that happening. (2) You can remove the app from being in the queue, make the fix, and resubmit. I'll go back into the queue, as waiting for review, but at least it'll have the correct config file. You want to use the Reject Binary options in iTunes Connect. (3) There should be a live version of the config file in your control panel. Make sure you've hit the Publish button to sync the design and live files. Either way, if they're synced, and the config file you publish is in Live mode, then you're good. Always trust Smug...he knows his stuff! Mark

Yup.. not much to add here other then I've done this a hundred times and it's never affected my review process. I HAVE heard of it affecting the review process if the INITIAL config file is showing a broken or blank app. You should be good, and like Mark said, you are in great hands. Mark, So to make sure I've got this straight: 1) go to the red button and hit publish. 2) check to see if there is a live mode config file. 3) if there is, copy it and then paste it into my Xcode. No need to re-compile. 4) Go to Itunes and Connect and Reject the Binary and then tell them to expect another download. 5) Archive anew 6) Validate 7) Submit Is that it?

3) you NEED to save the new config you pasted in, clean the project, and then re-compile and re-submit. Although the app gets the updated config by refreshing, the updated config you added to your project won't be effective until you submit the new project. In any case, try rejecting your binary and re-submitting if you can. David https://buzztouchmods.com/market

David, When you say recompile, you don't mean start from scratch and have BT submit the zip file, etc. as if we're starting from the beginning do you? I would think copying the Live config file, cleaning, then archiving and then submitting would do the trick?

Oops! Yes that's what I meant, recompile as in archive again, sorry, I thought the terms were interchangeable. David https://buzztouchmods.com/market

OK, just one problem. I go and hit publish, and nothing happens. The red dot stays red and Live view config data still shows the does not exist message.

@stevek Oops, gotcha.. best of luck. We're here for you! @Mark, did not mean to take the thread over LOL.. sorry. Your posts are always spot on and detailed. Like you said that day on the beach, when you write your support post the first time and explain everything detailed it leads to less confusion. Wise words.. can't wait to see you again! A little late on this but just thought I'd chime in; I have done this exact thing to several (about 5) apps, mostly by accident also. I have not had one rejected. This may be an urban legend, or Apple is realizing that tons of apps are out there without their core 'raw data' by design, and their previous rejection policy doesn't really make much sense. Tim

Yup, both me and Tim have had no problems so don't worry. Apple knows about buzztouch all too well and I'm sure has had to get used to a few things that buzztouch does that other conventional apps don't. David https://buzztouchmods.com/market
