Newbie...be gentle..

Hello! I stumbled across this site a couple of days ago and I have been reading through it ever since. Great tools and a very active, knowledgeable user community. I'm an IT guy by trade but more of a DBA/sysadmin and not a true, or aspiring, developer (although I have spent a fair amount time using Visual Basic, vbscript and some C++ for personal projects in years past.) A relative of mine has a very cool idea for an app and as the resident family IT guy she asked me to look into it. So here I am. I have zero mobile app development experience but I have spent many hours reading through the forums, FAQ's and links on this and other sites and I have a pretty good high-level understanding of the app-building process. What I lack is the low-level expertise to make it happen. I think that with my past experience and a little guidance from the gurus on this site I can hit the ground running. Anyway, when I'm not holed up in the office, trying to keep up with my three kids or working on one of several partially completed home improvement projects I try to enjoy a little golf or fly-fishing. I'm also a big Denver sports fan. Thanks for this forum and I look forward to getting to know some of you.

Welcome @Jakey, from what I read you will feel right at home here. You'll be up to speed in no time. I had zero mobile app development experience too when i started but the BT community helped me a LOT. Give us a shout if you need anything. Farcat

Welcome to Buzztouch, @Jakey! The amazing thing about this platform is that you DON'T need to know the low-level details, because it's all been taken care of for you. Just configure the plugins you're interested in, compile, and you're off! Of course, if you want, all the source is available for you to tinker with, and tons of people here are eager and ready to help. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Mark

Welcome Jake-y! Same thing as everyone else said.. before you get started on any of it be sure to do a few BTU lessons and earn your stars! https://www.buzztouch.com/account/btu.php Those lessons will give you the basic understanding of the tools you'll be using to make yourself an app and to accomplish your goal. Can't wait to see what you do, ask us for any questions! David https://buzztouchmods.com/market

You sound like me 365 days ago. Fear not, you'll absorb like a sponge. Like Mark (GoNorthWest) says, you can play a little, or you can play a lot. It's all up to you! And if you have questions, you've already found your best resource; the forums! Welcome! Cheers! -- Smug
