Push - Self Host - GoDaddy

Looking at migrating to self hosted next week! However I have prepaid for hosting on goDaddy for another 13 months and want to make use of that. I have noticed a few posts about goDaddy not allowing Push notifications, but as I am only learning and using Android at the moment and my limited understanding of 'pushing', I just wanted to check on something. If I do install on goDaddy, will my control panel actions work as normal? ie. once I have installed an app on a device and I change screen attributes in control panel and publish, will those changes still be implemented on the device once the app has been refreshed? Regards

"As far as I know" everything works, except for intrinsic push. However, I 'believe' (and again, I could be wrong) that push via Parse will work, but you may want to snoop around a bit before you waste too much time trying. Cheers! -- Smug

I have my control panel with GoDaddy and all is cool, except for push, as you said. It doesn't mean you can't do Push Notifications, just not with BT. I recently discovered www.pushwoosh.com, it easy to integrate and works well. Push with Parse works but not well. As soon as your phone if offline (in flight mode for example) then the app won't launch. Hope it helps

The big plus with Pushwoosh is that you can integrate a custom page. With parse, you send your message - on the phone you receive it - you tap and it opens the app (nothing else). With Pushwoosh you can set up screens. You receive the notification - tap on it and an html rich screen opens before opening your app (that's an option). It can also be a graphic or a link. Very cool in my view.
