magazine app subscriptions/in app purchase?

one way to release a magazine is to create a basic free app that links to each issue with an in-app purchase. But how then would I instigate subscriptions, or would someone have to pay singly each 'issue'? I'm trying to figure out how to get a magazine out there - currently the site's free, but I want to do up an iphone/ipad version that uses a subscription model, with additional benefits. There's a magazine on Newsstand that uses the model I want - Indie Rock Magazine. The basic download is free (which gives you a basic page with the issues shown), then you can buy an issue for 99¢, subscribe monthly for 99¢/mo or yearly for 10.99. I can recreate the mag in pdf format if need be - that's not a problem, although I would rather utilize the joomla > app plug in (as the main site's in Joomla) which would save me a lot of work. I'm trying to do this without much outlay as it's a new personal project with no budget ;-) Any advice would be gratefully received!!

Look at the Newsstand magazine named App Ville, Issue #3 for tips on how to roll your own iPad / iPhone magazine. It uses the Baker Framework and HTML files. You can use Site Sucker to grab your HTML from the Joomla site. Then bundle and format for mobile. It will take work, yet the results are awesome. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/app-ville-iphone-ipad-magazine/id538819928?mt=8

Another thought, how about using custom RSS feeds that get generated by your Joomla and get absorbed by the BuzzTouch RSS plugin? With your creative talent, I am sure you will make it look purty! -- Niraj
