Totally new in ios

Hi my friends.. i have one more (maybe silly ) question . What is the name of the installation file of an iphone ? In Android the file is called .apk in ios? i have build in xcode the installation file but cant figure out how it look like.. From Xcode i hit --> Project/build for/ running and after that i have in my project file a file called ''Derivedata'' that has inside lot of other files .. so i am little lost as i have never had or used an iphone in my life.. always had android thanks in advance

Hello! The iOS "equivalent" of the Android apk file is a .ipa (iOS App Store Package) file. However, it's use is significantly more difficult than using an apk file. You can't just throw it in DropBox or email it to somebody and have them be able to install it with a click. They need to use iTunes (I believe you can drag it in), or a service like Test Flight. Are you stuck in how to test your app? You can install iOS simulators in Xcode that will allow you to view and test your app without having an actual device. Testing on a real device will be a bit more complicated. Mark

This document is a bit dated, but gives the general idea how to submit for iOS : https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Submitting_Your_App_To_iTunes_Connect_v1.0.pdf I'll assume you're aware that you need an Apple Developer account, and that you have all the correct certificates in place? The general idea is that you Archive the product, and then use Organizer to submit it to iTunes. Mark

i have an apple developer account but not an account in market-iTunes.. this is an other story as the 100 dollars per year i find them very big amount of money (on of the reason i never liked apple as a company and her products) it is more for test propose for now all this i am doing.. so in the future know more what to do if i need to publish my work and in iphones (it is also a market that shows that goes down every year... maybe because of the policy that following ) Thanks for the help GoNorthWest :)

I totally understand. The $100/yr is pretty steep for sure. Unfortunately, you're kinda stuck until you pay that amount, because you need at the very least a developer certificate in order to create something that can be tested on a real device. Until then, you're stuck using the emulator. And once you do get the certificates, there are plenty of people who can help out and get you up and running. Good luck! Mark

ok i have a deeper look... as i saw if you dont have the certificates you cant just compile to the right executable file for ios... sooo nice !! hmm an other very interesting policy from apple :P (ok i saw some hacks about make it to be in cydia ) so for now i will stay to the tests only in emulator :)

and in general as i clarify what i want it to learn thanks to your help 100 dollars per year are to much.. ok here were i live this is the 1/8 of a month salary (now days most of the people work for 400 per month - crisis) but there are other countries that this amount can be all the month salary.. more developers.. more application the better for the device.. and from the moment the company takes and fee from the sales every time.. i think that a smaller amount would be more acceptable.. one of the benefits of Google android.. and how it manage to make more sales and rise sales year per year.. that in general some thoughts from me.. :) out of topic again thanks for the help :)

Yep - if you're jailbroken there's probably a way to do it. But Apple's policy has always been that you need to be a paid developer in order to put an app on a device - for testing purposes or not. Complain, disagree, get upset. Plenty of people have over the years. But they're not likely to change their policy anytime soon. I suspect their reasoning has something to do with not wanting to circumvent the app store and keeping a lot of crap out. (Think about all the crappy free apps on Android - without forcing developers to have some skin in the game, it opens the door to all kinds of garbage)

yes i agree but even then there are lot of options to have the ''store'' without crappy free apps.. but free is free... you download it and if it is crappy you delete it.. maybe the only thing that you will have to complain is the lost of the 2-3 minutes of your life... apples policy from my view (some years now) is take more money from everyone... ok is a company and gain to profit.. that is reasonable... but all things have the limits.. ;) lets take as an example the BT .. it is from the few methods for making apps that look like it doesn't want to gain the most of you in money.. one of the reasons that i will upgrade my account is that i don't feel like the cow that want from me to milk me ;) and have suggest it and to some other friends of mine hmm i think we need an off topic thread in forum just to say our thoughts :P Hope see you around again to my new problems in Android platform...yeap i have lot of questions there :P hahaha :)
