Ready to publish to google play - but which version to use?

I have been working on my first app and the prototype has been done with downloading from the BT control panel (not self hosted) via the link "Prepare Android Project". Now that I am close to releasing the app to Google Play, should I instead use "Use the Buzztouch Core for Android v3.0"? If so, what changes do I need to make in my app and/or eclipse to get it to work ok? e.g. I've been selecting Api 2.2 in eclipse so does that change? Pls advise.

BT Android v2 uses Google API v8 - Usually needs to be changed in the project. BT Android v3 uses Android API v14 - Doesn't usually need to be changed in the project. Cheers! -- Smug

So should I use BT Android V3 - what's the difference as far as supporting the max # devices? I have a free app (mainly html screens) but have no idea what these versions mean in the real world from marketing point of view.

Well, an 'older' API will ensure your compatibility with more devices. If this is a thing, then you'll want to use BT Android v2, and change your API to Google API 8 vs Android API 8 which will come up by default. BT Android v3 supports 'a lot' of devices, and has increased capability and flexibility that wasn't available in earlier versions. You can see this graphic displays Android OS usage and trends, and make a choice from there: http://www.appbrain.com/stats/top-android-sdk-versions Cheers! -- Smug

I'd go with the Buzztouch v3 code. It covers about 96% of the devices out there. It's also the most current BT code, which means it'll constantly be improved. If you go with v2, eventually you'll have to move to v3, so you might as well just do it now if you already have a working version of the app at that level. Just my two cents! Mark

I agree it's better to do it now, while there's so much knowhow in the air :) Thanks for the 2c and moving this thing to v3 tonight.
