Problems with starting Eclipse

Dear fellow app makers! I'm new here and I'm abbout to make my first app, but having trouble with Eclipse ... I downloaded it, also downloaded SDK and Java development kit. But when I want to run the Eclipse it says that "no Java virtual machine was found" and that I have to have in order to run Eclipse JRE or JDK. Can anyone help me with this?

Hello @anja, Welcome to Buzztouch! You do need to have the Java JDK (Java Development Kit), not the JRE, installed in order to use Eclipse. I have a set of install videos, covering Windows/Mac/Linux, that might help you out. You can find them on my YouTube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/gonorthwest Let us know if you have any other questions. And, again, welcome! Mark

Mark thank you very much for your help! Thanks to you I've been able to install the Eclipse. But stil I have a problem when I want to run my app. When I hit run, there appears two problems: "GeoPoint cannot be resolved to a type" and "the import com.google.android.maps cannot be resolved" At this point I have to mention that I also tried to follow your steps for Keytool Plugin. I manage to gain the certificate, but when I have to paste that MD5 Fingerprint online at developers.google.com/android/maps etc. I don't find that signup site, because crome opens another site which is this: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/android/ Is this what causes those problems?

Great job getting things up and running! The Google Maps API for Android v2 is no longer available. Buzztouch has provided a new version of their code, which you'll see as Buzztouch v3 when you go to download, that doesn't require the old API, but uses the new one. There's a video on my channel that shows how to download and deal with the new v3 code. I suspect you downloaded the v2 code, correct? It would be best to start with the v3 code, as it's the most current. My video should help you out! Mark

Way to go, Anja! It is harder to start with Eclipse, but you pulled it off!

Are you using the Buzztouch v2 or v3 code? Let's start there.

OK, cool. You have the Google Play Services as part of your project, correct? And you have ensured that you've selected the Android SDK in your project properties, and not the Google SDK, correct?
