Push, final steps...

Been fighting with push for iOS and Android. I know, join the club, right? Anyway, after redoing it again and using Jake's nifty website to convert p12 to pem I noticed again the instruction to "redownload the source code". All this time I have been adding push to an existing app, never redownloaded the source code, just added and modified as I went. Does something else come down with the package after installing the pem certificates? I have a sinking feeling I have once again wasted much time because I assumed a step was unimportant... Tim

Hi Tim, I don't recall having to redownload the code after I got all my certs and stuff in place. I followed the PDF that's linked to the push section of the website, and all worked well! Mark

Thanks Mark. Huh. Ok, I wonder then if my simultaneous Scringo integration and push is the stumbling block. Or, more likely, I just screwed something up. Tim

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with Scringo, so I can't say for sure. I used this doc for the Apple stuff: http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/pushNotifications-iOS.pdf The Android stuff was pretty straight forward. Mark

Mark, Let's say I deleted a device from the registered devices screen in my control panel... No I don't know why I did it... That device can't register again? Can I force one to somehow? Tim

Good question, and I don't know the answer, unfortunately. I wouldn't think the device knows it's been deleted, so it wouldn't know to register again. I'd have to research this one a bit more. Mark

Although it's not in your registered devices in your control panel, I suspect there is still a record of it in your BT Database (the MySQL database that is in the backend of your self hosted setup). If you're brave, you can try finding/deleting the record. But I've never tried it; not sure how well it will work. Cheers! -- Smug

Ofer from Scringo says its one or the other, not both. I'll poke around the database, shouldn't be too hard to find. Tim

Found the entries that I deleted still lurking about in the database. Deleted, no problem. Gonna rebuild with Push, or Scringo, not both. Thinking it's gonna be Scringo. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the help as usual guys. That new BT Android code looks pretty sweet, eh? Can't wait! Maybe I won't be an Android hater anymore after it rolls out! Tim
