How do you make money? Who supports this thing?

We offer this site as a free service and encourage anyone interested in mobile development to use our tools. Eventually we will need to earn some revenue! It costs much more than most folks realize to host thousands of apps and continue evolving buzztouch. As such, we may introduce some paid-features in the future. Don't worry, you will never be asked to pay for something you didn't originally agree to. But, we would appreciate your help if we introduce paid-services (shameless plug).

I'm hoping that one day Buzztouch will be one of those 'evil', huge corporations that pays their CEO and upper management huge sums of money! As a small biz owner (photographer) I've seen how much of an investment it takes to run a company. I'm sure my measly $25,000 in photo gear pales in comparison to what you guys have spent but I am hoping that you do well financially. You guys offer a fantastic product and should make a profit! That being said, it may be a good idea to offer those that contribute something in return. Mainly I mean people that contribute plug-ins for BT Server. In the back of my head I've often wondered if people were hesitant to work on plug-ins for you guys because they didn't want to feel like they were giving something that they custom created away for nothing. Maybe a free account that includes all of your services (paid and unpaid) or something similar would be a good incentive (once you have 'paid' services). I personally would love to make some plug-ins but, as of yet, I'm still just trying to learn Obj-C....

Totally get it. These types of concerns are for sure something we've been juggling for two years. Not to worry, we have zero intentions of 'taking' anything from a very loyal audience. Plugin contributions for sure are tough to imagine today - they are tough to make! As easy as we may want to think it is, it's not. We've intentionally not created a user-contributed plugin directory for the same reasons you're thinking about - how could the author be compensated? For sure folks could make them and sell them on their own but it would probably be tough? We have a bright future and eventually we'll have some paid products and service while alos offering compelling services (at least as compelling as what you see today) for free ;-)
