Introducing myself.

I signed up because it seems that the this is the best system for creating your own app. I run http://cyber-fm.com and currently working on the App here. I'm looking to implement a direct streaming app for each of our 25 channels that we have. And also a flash player for the latest and greatest Android Versions. I wanted to just say Hi and if all works out... I'll love this site even more... so far its VERY impressive.

Nice to know ya, thanks for the intro. We've been working hard on all kinds of better ways to stream music to devices. If you have tried working this out, and have some ideas, let us know. We have a basic streaming code-base now but it's already not cool enough! Can't wait to get the Android one worked out (some folks were reporting issues the other day) then improve both version. There are lots and lots of streaming apps created on this site. They seem to work best with actual .mp3 files hosted on servers. The .pls streams (whatever they are!) seem to be the trouble. They work good in the iOS work but crappy in Android. Sigh, we'll get it worked out soon enough.

Oh no I've mastered streaming audio in Android... just not app-wise ... pls is what you consider shoutcast and m3u is what you consider a streamed mp3 ...one issue and I was thinking of this earlier was, don't limit your app to MP3, because streaming MP3 will choke as some systems believe it to be a never-ending file. Make sure to allow m3u as its an infinite mp3 playlist file. Much better... we could probably learn A LOT together lol... What part of Upstate NY did you used to go to? (Other thread)

Just stepping out.. Skaneateles, outside of Syracuse. Buffalo, and Rochester too. Good times. I'll be back later and see what the issue may be with the Android player. I heard it was hosed by haven't looked at it - way to busy! I do like the idea of supporting other formats, just don't understand enough about them to have any confidence in the outcome. I'll get it, just gotta find some time to take a breathe! bye for now.

If you activate M3U along side that MP3 streaming audio option you have now.. I'll be testing it tonight for you right away! It will solve a major problem for me! and I'll send you the results ...also I know for a fact IPhone loves M3U .... I can show you the apps my station is listed in across Droid and iOS. I just want to create my own where our listeners don't have to pay a single dime.

Just allowed it for your login only. All I did was allow the screen to 'accept' files with .M3U extension. I'm not sure how this will play? I thought M3U was a simple text file and not an audio file? Experiment, I'll be back later. Thanks.

Few glitches, my emulator is silly. I have a friend using a real Android to help test... can you also enable ME for .pls files like you did m3u under streaming audio... we are played through streamfurious as pls files in Android.

HI again, can't do the wild-card thing, it's more complicated than it may seem, sorry. I'm making progress on a MUCH better audio streamer. The way it should work, (and isn't now but will soon) would be: a) User taps a menu item for the stream b) A screen slides in with a background image, player controls, etc. Data download begins and plays when available. More the way it should be, like the native players. Look for this in v1.5. Until then, keep experimenting? Your forum posts on threads where others are looking for help are HUGELY appreciated, thanks tons for this.

ok cool... enable PLS, ASX, QT, and RAM ... I can test those 4. M3U and QT are Iphone compatible... I'd love to have one file format for both Android and Iphone, otherwise I'll maintain two separate apps. but I guess Radio is indeed unique in this case. Want me to beta test your Audio ideas? I'm game!

These are accepted: .MP3, .M3U, .PLS, .PLS, .ASX, .RAM Could not do .QT, source-code requires a three digit extension? Cross Platform: Ideally, knowbody will have to maintain two sep. apps, that's the whole idea. It's looking like a Flash / HTML based player of some sorts will be used in the Android and the native player in the iPhone. Because iPhone supports more formats natively, what they support will probably be all Android supports. I don't have anything for you to beta yet because I have not explored the HTML / Flash option on Android. If you want to look into this, awesome. Maybe just spice-up a simple CustomHTML page or CustomURL page with some simple hard-coded Player code and see what happens? THis would be a big help.

I have your flash answer and it's No :( I already tested flash this morning in your app via web url... found out that FLASH is ONLY supported in Android 2.2 INSIDE the native browser... :( Are you able to see my app and how I modify it? Cuz you can follow me then ;)

Yeah, I can download the source to your app and do the Eclipse thing with any changes you make. I'm buried in an iPhone mess today and tomorrow so Eclipse is kinda playing poor step-child for a few days?
