Calling the Facebook and Twitter app from Buzztouch

Hi Everyone! Feels like a few years since I posted here! I am creating an app and need to call the facebook and twitter apps up. I submitted an app a few months ago and it was rejected because most of it was weblinks to other places. Well, this one seems to be going in the same place. I need to open up a facebook page and a twitter page on the app, but all it does is open a weblink. Is there a way to click on the tab and call the facebook app up or the twitter app up with the selected page opened? Thanks in advance Ed www.egapp.co.uk

Hi David, Sorry I might have not said that clear enough, so tired writing that! Basically, what I want is instead of the tab going to www.facebook.com/SparkSite or www.twitter.com/Sparksite , I want it to open the app and show the page instead? I know there are app submission rules against too many links being in the app. Do you know how this is possible? Can you do it via 'launch a native app'? Cheers Ed

I have fixed it! To call the facebook app up on a particular screen, use Custom URL or Launch a Native App, and type any of these... fb://profile – Open Facebook app to the user’s profile fb://friends – Open Facebook app to the friends list fb://notifications – Open Facebook app to the notifications list fb://events – Open Facebook app to the Events page fb://requests – Open Facebook app to the Requests list fb://notes - Open Facebook app to the Notes page fb://albums – Open Facebook app to Photo Albums list To open a specific page or profile, you must do fb://profile/<page id, NOT name> To open twitter, use it in exactly the same way, only with tweetie:// or twitter:// . Thanks Ed

@Ed, cracking work here, facebook works like a charm and it used to be a real aggravation setting up faceook connection that works like this. However, could you explain Twitter further please, i'm unable to land on a specific user and ive no idea why! Many thanks!

Hi Alex To use the twitter one and get it to open on a particular user, you need to find the account Id (it is not the username). To do that, you can use this tool (http://www.idfromuser.com/). Once you have the ID, put: twitter://user?id= And after the equal sign, put the ID. For mine, to get it to open on my company twitter, I used twitter://user?id=441015059 and it worked great. Thanks Ed

You need to do custom URL, rather than HTML doc. And you need the Facebook app installed Thanks Ed
