Updating an already approved app - with changes

I didn't know exactly where to put this, but I hope y'all can help me. I have actually several apps that have been approved over the last couple of years, and are alive in the app store. I want to make some changes and freshen them up. I know that, for example, adding questions to a quiz app is live and doesn't require you to recompile and submit an app update. However, I want to do more. Basically, I want to do things like use the Buzz Carousel and make some paid apps free, but with in app purchase options. I want to keep the same app title because they are basically "aged", and have good reviews. Now, to the question. For example, the current app is called App A. In XCode, it was set up with a package name of daniel.appa.com, let's say. It uses an menu buttons main menu, and I want to use the buzz carousel, and make it free (it's now paid), and have in app purchase. With all this, would I basically need to build a new app, because the changes I'd make to the current one in Buzztouch would mess up any users that currently open the app, compile, and submit as an update? How about the package name? Would I name it still daniel.appa.com or something else? And if I don't have access to the package name, what do I do, for older apps that I don't remember the package name? I'm thinking with my newer app it may be easier to just keep it as a menu buttons main screen, and just add a new button that is a URL for the image, rather than to start all over. But I'm not sure, hoping you all can give me some advice.

I'm about 99% sure you cannot change an ios app from paid to free(or vice versa). You definitely cannot do that in android. Most ios apps go the way of free, with in-app purchases.I would re-build and possibly replace said app.

Another idea: add a menu/link to a web page of yours stating your new app replacing said app?....description/update log etc?
